Our Entrance Median

As a part of a state-maintained street, our entrance median is maintained by VDOT…but as we can’t wait for them to get around to it, we have our contractor, Green Village Landscaping, mow the grass;-)

And you may have noticed that only 2 of the original cherry trees that lined the media survive; the website’s header image dates from 2002, but was taken before that;-} Most of them succumbed to root rot, due to piling mulch around the trunks, but the one on the inside end was mowed down when a car jumped the curb:-{ i have some pix somewhere;-}

cardinal glen’s first builder

the first developer in cardinal glen was national birchwood homes: the model homes were the first 4 houses on cgc facing the bahai church; those models can be seen on both sides of down cgc almost to coloma ct, comprising most of section 1, cardinal glen section & common ground map lots 34-57.

the county originally wanted our street to go thru to sugarland run…that would certainly have been better for traffic, but not for cardinal glen as a great neighborhood;-)

luckily for us, the property behind us was not for sale…it was a farm occupied by renters who were very nice people who had moved out to the country to escape the big city, and whose son was the subject of a police pursuit, complete with helicopter, after he knocked off a 7-11 in fairfax & ran home to momma memorial day w/e 1984…so the builder petitioned to county to allow a circle, and the rest is history;-)

there is also a story that building was suspended when graves were found…and a resident of red wing ct says he saw a bright glow over the stream one night, and has pictures to prove it…somewhere;-)
