Important LCPS Boundary Update: Potential reassignment from Horizon ES to Sugarland ES

Update

loudounnow.com reports:

On Thursday, four parents spoke to the board. All four speakers were from the Cardinal Glen neighborhood, which would be moved from Horizon Elementary School to Sugarland Elementary under Plan R6.

School Board Appears Unlikely to Adopt Major Eastern Elementary School Boundary Changes

Thank you, neighbors! The board will next discuss the item on Nov. 12 during a public hearing that will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the LCPS Administration Building at 21000 Education Court in Ashburn.

We want to make sure everyone on Cardinal Glen Circle is aware of the current LCPS Eastern Loudoun Elementary School Attendance Zone Review.

Under the boundary adjustments currently under consideration, our neighborhood could be rezoned from Horizon Elementary School to Sugarland Elementary School, taking effect in the 2027–2028 school year.

The School Board is holding public input sessions and work sessions this fall before making a final decision in December. LCPS has published proposed maps, timeline details, and an online public feedback form here:

If you have current or future elementary students — or simply want to voice your perspective on keeping our current zoning versus moving to Sugarland — please review the plans and email the Loudoun County School Board and/or attend an upcoming meeting. You’ll have to sign up beforehand to speak (details on how to register can be found on the LCPS Citizen Participation page).
